Synopsis

Joey, a Nineteen year old teenager struggles with deep depression ever since the death of his mother. He wanders earth lost and without purpose. He’s lost all grasp of reality and fights with the thought of just letting go.

Joey stands at the edge of a steep cliff and shares his perspective of the world. How everything is so bad and how it’s easier for him to just give up and take a step forward.

The actual story starts in the bathroom of a techno club. Joey stands in front of the mirror with two MDMA pills in hand. He knows what this path leads to, after all it’s not his first rodeo. But he doesn’t care anymore. With alcohol already in his system, he swallows both pills.
After the drugs take control of him, he makes his way to the dance floor. Even if it’s not real, Joey is actually happy in this moment. But this doesn’t last long, for it quickly becomes too much and he falls down whilst suffering a overdose.

Joey is now in hospital, struggling to hold on to life. His mind on the other hand, is in a dark room. There he questions his life decisions. Even now he can’t face his true emotions and problems.

His soul wanders a vast forest, seeking clarity. Until it arrives at the edge of a cliff. He just stands there.
He knows if he takes a step forward
then he gives up and accepts death.

It would be so easy, so freeing. Memories of his past start seeping into his head. The bad, but also the good times. Thus making his decision even harder. He struggles and struggles until eventually he cries out into the world letting go of all the built up emotions. He is free. Joey now turns around and walks away. This is not how his story will end. He chooses life.

Lose me not tells a story about depression and loneliness. How it covers surrounding and life with thick black sheet, distorting your view of reality. But also acknowledging the beauty found around every corner of this world.
